My sincerest apologies to not only the SweatSox but also the Panthers, who reportedly were asking every SweatSock if they were Shaun Keay.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be at the Alliance practice on Friday (I think), and for the record, this is I (Shaun Keay):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015alliancekeay.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1047\" src=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015alliancekeay-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"2015alliancekeay\" width=\"398\" height=\"597\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015alliancekeay-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015alliancekeay-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015alliancekeay-900x1350.jpg 900w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015alliancekeay.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In what should\u2019ve been two championship winning teams coming together on the field to better each other, I\u2019m hearing practice started much like a junior high school dance, with the boys together in LF and the girls together in RF, afraid to make the first move.\u00a0 This never would\u2019ve happened if I, Shaun Keay, were there.<\/p>\n<p>There were pre-practice discussions about who could supply an L-Screen for the Alliance.\u00a0 Kent Johnston made one a couple years ago, but it died seconds\u00a0after it\u2019s first every practice, and it\u2019s parts \u201ccremated\u201d.\u00a0 Thankfully, there was access to one at Kinsmen so the Panthers pitchers didn\u2019t need to worry about being struck.\u00a0 The SweatSox pitchers were never in danger, since they only give up deep fly balls, warning track shots, and homeruns.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PMA_Panthers?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@PMA_Panthers<\/a> We made one a few years ago. charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Before practice could officially start, the SweatSox needed their traditional pre-practice pep talk, and who better to give it than recently appointed Assistant Coach to his offspring\u2019s team: Armando Navarro.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t there, but I\u2019m sure it was very insightful, emotional, and set the tone for the entire season.<\/p>\n<p>The Alliance practiced for just under an hour and a half, and ended after the Panthers walked off the field while Ross Hughes was batting.\u00a0 We aren\u2019t sure whether it was Ross\u2019 hitting, or Mark Stinson\u2019s pitching that chased them off the field; either reason was acceptable though.\u00a0 I\u2019m hearing the rest of the SweatSox were equally uninspiring, with only our reigning MVP Cory Bond earning a post-practice Panther Poach.\u00a0 If the Panthers were impressed with his warning track power from home plate, they should see what I can do from the Kinsmen charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The Apr\u00e8s Baseball Hyjinx was hosted by our opening day starter: Cory Bond, who set the Hyjinx tone with 48 Alexander Keith tallboys.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t take long for the SweatSox to catch each other up on what they\u2019ve been listening to over the offseason..<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" SweatSox also discussed, in length, how prepared we\u2019d be if the NCBL were to implement a Sexual Diversity rule.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got a sneaky suspicion we wouldn\u2019t need to make any extra night that the remaining Panthers checked-in at the Hyjinx.\u00a0 It was the closest the Panthers had been to the circle since the infamous Odlid throwing incident of 2014.\u00a0 The two managers finally got together to compare notes, and \u201caccidentally\u201d revealed something I\u2019ve suspected for years, every NCBL manager overcharges their players\u00a0so they don\u2019t have to pay their own league fees.<\/p>\n<p>Other topics of conversation between Panthers\/SweatSox management included: a beer schedule vs a pay-as-you-go system, the 2003 West End Warriors team that was rejected by the league, and extending the Alliance into the Brewers tournament should we be refused entry, and possibly even further for the Peterborough tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Some random notes that I don\u2019t quite have the full context of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mark \u201cBus Cop\u201d Bond cost the Panthers $440<\/li>\n<li>Tinder is the straight Grindr<\/li>\n<li>Some Cardinals don\u2019t know where Faulkner is<\/li>\n<li>Ian Stewart still can\u2019t dunk<\/li>\n<li>Is it possible to Hyjinx at a Farm Boy salad bar?<\/li>\n<li>Pom-pom-less SweatSox toques may be the next team purchase<\/li>\n<li>Only OMS wished Josh a happy birthday<\/li>\n<li>Only Mindy congratulated Bridget on her engagement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The SweatLympics portion of the evening took place at Summerhays, where Chairman Josh Ramage declared a Wing-Off was the next event.\u00a0 It was a 6 way tie between everyone there (minus Cop who got a side poutine), so the Chairman broke the tie as follows:\u00a0 Craig Cornell wins the gold medal because he got the green sword of power; Marc Lett came second because he ate all his wings just like he does everything else, with his right hand; and he, Josh Ramage, gave himself the bronze for reasons unknown. \u00a0Mark Bond lost 50 points for, well, being Mark Bond.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/2015alliancepodium.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1045\"
