{"id":1568,"date":"2016-05-14T22:05:41","date_gmt":"2016-05-15T02:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/?p=1568"},"modified":"2016-05-14T22:34:06","modified_gmt":"2016-05-15T02:34:06","slug":"earning-the-sweat-sweatsox-vs-panthers-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/14\/earning-the-sweat-sweatsox-vs-panthers-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Earning the Sweat&#8221; &#8211; SweatSox vs Panthers Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are very few teams that have been around as long as the SweatSox.\u00a0 In fact, just 4 teams since the extremely controversial and arguably illegal SIBL-OBL merger of 1990 still play in the NCBL today; the SweatSox and\u00a0Panthers are 2 of them.<\/p>\n<p>The SweatSox and Panthers have taken very different paths from the &#8220;merger&#8221; to the present.\u00a0 In 1990, the Panthers jumped right in to the <em>Competitive League<\/em>, while the SweatSox scored the fewest and gave up the most runs in the <em>Recreational League<\/em>.\u00a0 From then until the end of the Dorion era, the SweatSox had as many winning seasons that the Panthers did Tier 1 championships \u2013 1.<\/p>\n<p>Because the SweatSox are always so bad, and the Panthers always so good, these two historic teams were always many tiers apart and never squared off in a regular season game, until yesterday.\u00a0 Last night at Kinsmen, the little team just happy to be here finally got a chance to play the big team only happy when they win championships, and it went about how you\u2019d expect.<\/p>\n<p>Dillon Lowry, making his SweatSox debut after defecting from the Cardinals this offseason, started on the mound for the SweatSox, keeping us in the game for <em><strong>only<\/strong><\/em> 5 innings.\u00a0 In the 6th, with the score 0-0 and each team having just 1 hit, the Panthers bent us over and had their way with us, sending 16 batters to the plate (including 10 with 2 outs), scoring 10 runs.\u00a0 At least it wasn\u2019t as bad as the time the Panthers scored 16 in an inning against the Braves in 2003 though.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/panthersbravesbox.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1572\" src=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/panthersbravesbox-755x1024.jpg\" alt=\"panthersbravesbox\" width=\"546\" height=\"741\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/panthersbravesbox-755x1024.jpg 755w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/panthersbravesbox-221x300.jpg 221w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/panthersbravesbox-768x1042.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/panthersbravesbox.jpg 920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 546px) 100vw, 546px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the bottom of the 6th the SweatSox headed over to the Kinsmen light box to try and kill the lights and erase that half inning, but someone changed the lock combo and we couldn\u2019t get in.\u00a0 So three very quick outs later the Panthers took us out back and put an end to our misery.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">FINAL: Panthers 10.
