{"id":1599,"date":"2016-05-28T02:55:41","date_gmt":"2016-05-28T06:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/?p=1599"},"modified":"2016-05-28T03:00:22","modified_gmt":"2016-05-28T07:00:22","slug":"go-for-69-sweatsox-vs-riverhawks-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/28\/go-for-69-sweatsox-vs-riverhawks-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cGo For 69\u201d \u2013 SweatSox vs RiverHawks Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Before we get started, I just want to let the record show that I, Shaun Keay, was not at the game tonight. \u00a0I chose a weekend golfing trip to Prince Edward Island with my old man &amp; the gang instead of striking out a few times against the RiverHawks with the rest of the SweatSox.\u00a0 Fortunately, I have been able to gather a fair amount of information through the live broadcast and team chat, so the rest of this story will seem like I was there. \u00a0But I wasn\u2019t.\u00a0 I\u2019m in P.E.I.\u00a0 Apparently eating potatoes.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s history lesson begins in back in 2001: a time when Geoff Magnus and Adam Oattes were teammates on the Hitmen, when I (Shaun Keay) hit .571 for the SweatSox, and when Rudy Vallejos suited up for the Silverbacks (just 9 seasons\u00a0before he\u2019d go on to win NCBL Rookie of the Year).\u00a0 2001 was also the year the Tier 3 Chiefs finished last with a 5-18-1 record.\u00a0 Now you may not remember the 2001 Chiefs, nor the 2004 Les Grand Gueules team they evolved to, nor the Marc Sports sponsor\u00a0they rebranded to in 2005, nor the rebooted Marc Sports team some of them played on in 2012, but you probably are familiar with their most recent incarnation: the River Hawks!<\/p>\n<p>During all the River Hawks\u2019 travels throughout the tiers, we were only in the same one once: in 2014, and the results of those games was a pretty good preview of what the SweatSox were in for tonight.\u00a0 In 2014, the River Hawks swept the 3 game season series, outscored us 11-2, and shut us out the two times we played at Allen Park, which of course was the site of tonight\u2019s Tier 1 matchup.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">River Hawks add : Martin Trepanier.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ncbltransactions?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ncbltransactions<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCBL (@ncbl) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ncbl\/status\/736327814933286912?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 27, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 4px;\">So what happened tonight at Allen?\u00a0 We lost.\u00a0 It was a shutout.\u00a0 And they outscored us 4-0.\u00a0 While all that was expected, what wasn\u2019t were the lights going off real early at approximately 10:15pm.\u00a0 It\u2019s the first time that\u2019s happened at Allen, but the second time it\u2019s happened to us this year after the Britannia practice fiasco.\u00a0 Because the lights went off mid inning, the following never happened:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Martin Trepanier didn\u2019t pitch.<\/li>\n<li>Cory Bond didn\u2019t abort from the game when Martin Trepanier came in to pitch.<\/li>\n<li>Chris Lidstone and Kent Johnston didn\u2019t get hits.<\/li>\n<li>Marc Lett didn\u2019t get in the game.<\/li>\n<li>John Groves didn\u2019t strike out 3 times.<\/li>\n<li>Jason Klein didn\u2019t pitch.<\/li>\n<li>Jason Klein didn\u2019t balk.<\/li>\n<li>Base umpire Jean Lazure didn\u2019t call the balk.<\/li>\n<li>Josh Ramage didn\u2019t accept the explanation for the balk.<\/li>\n<li>Jason Klein didn\u2019t balk the very next pitch.<\/li>\n<li>The umpires didn\u2019t didn\u2019t call the second balk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We did shake hands in the dark though, because that\u2019s the SweatSox way.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">FINAL (5 innings*): RiverHawks 4.
