{"id":1636,"date":"2016-06-07T03:17:03","date_gmt":"2016-06-07T07:17:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/?p=1636"},"modified":"2016-06-07T03:54:28","modified_gmt":"2016-06-07T07:54:28","slug":"hyjinx-hugs-sweatsox-vs-athletics-ii-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/2016\/06\/07\/hyjinx-hugs-sweatsox-vs-athletics-ii-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cHyjinx Hugs\u201d \u2013 SweatSox vs Athletics II Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When the SweatSox made the move up to Tier 1 this past offseason, we figured we might be able to throw teams off the first time through the schedule with our slow pitching &amp;&nbsp;unorthodox playing style, and perhaps even back into a win or two.&nbsp; Through 7 games we faced 7 different opponents, and every single one of them had very little issues adjusting.&nbsp; Now that teams know exactly what to expect, the second set of games aren\u2019t going to go well for your \u201cStittsville\u201d SweatSox\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Our first second matchup of the year took place earlier tonight when&nbsp;the SweatSox took on the Athletics at McCarthy: where the mound has two rubbers, the infield is concrete, the outfield is soft, the warning track is mud, and where you could be hit by a stray bullet from any direction at any time.<\/p>\n<p>As you probably guessed, the SweatSox didn\u2019t get off to the best of starts, but it could\u2019ve been much worse as just 1 Athletic run came around to score after 2 SweatSox first inning errors.&nbsp; Ultimately, that run would be more than enough for the Athletics to secure their 6th win of the year, because for the 3rd time this season, the SweatSox didn&#8217;t score a run.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t easy for the SweatSox to get shutout tonight, despite us getting to third base just once.&nbsp; Check out the play-by-play from the bottom of the 4th inning, which perfectly summarizes the 2016 SweatSox season so far.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016g8playbyplay.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1638\" src=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016g8playbyplay.jpg\" alt=\"2016g8playbyplay\" width=\"625\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016g8playbyplay.jpg 625w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/2016g8playbyplay-300x96.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once we figured out how to fit everyone into the circle, the Apr\u00e8s Baseball Hyjinx was highlighted by the announcement that the Eric\u2019s were finally engaged.&nbsp; We\u2019re not quite sure who asked who, but nevertheless we gave Eric our congratulations, and wished Mrs. Eric \u201cgood luck\u201d, several times.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">FINAL (5): Athletics 10.
