{"id":1805,"date":"2016-12-31T19:25:17","date_gmt":"2017-01-01T00:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/?p=1805"},"modified":"2016-12-31T19:31:12","modified_gmt":"2017-01-01T00:31:12","slug":"the-feminist-petawawa-tournament-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/2016\/12\/31\/the-feminist-petawawa-tournament-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThe Feminist\u201d \u2013 Petawawa Tournament Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Day 7 of the SweatSox 14 Days of SweatMas SweatSite Extravaganza.\u00a0 <strong>FYI<\/strong>&#8211; I, Shaun Keay, was not present for the events below, but I had several reliable sources that kept me posted throughout the tournament, so it really felt like I was there, not getting any sleep.<\/p>\n<p>While most of the SweatSox had emptied their lockers following one of (but not) the worst seasons in SweatSox history, a couple Sox were packing their bags for the first of two apr\u00e8s season tournaments.\u00a0 Cory Bond and Chris Lidstone, who have a combined 4 Doug Dorion Memorial Trophies, 3 Mr. Hyjinx titles, 2 cell phones, and 1 happy relationship, represented the SweatSox at the inaugural Petawawa Fall Invitational; joining a Tier 3 All-Star team featuring several high profile Dukes, BlackSox, and Misfits.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Beauty weather today in petawawa for 3 games of baseball!!!<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/dukes?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#dukes<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/tourney?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#tourney<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Joe Beelen (@jbeelen32) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jbeelen32\/status\/766948065035051008?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 20, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Black Sweaty Dukes of Misfits<\/em> won their opening game 4-3 over the Petawawa Old Timers, and their second game 14-6 over the Renfrew Legends.\u00a0 The third game was a semi-final matchup against the Ottawa Valley powerhouse Killaloe Cottage Raisers, a team who I guarantee would go undefeated in Tier 1 every year.\u00a0 Needing a win in the \u201cmoney-game\u201d, the <em>BSDoM<\/em>\u00a0gave our very own Cory Bond the ball to do what he does best, pitch for anyone not named the SweatSox.\u00a0 5 innings and 10 strikeouts in a time shortened game later, the Dukes were headed to the finals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/FullSizeRender-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1807\" src=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/FullSizeRender-11-1024x744.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"613\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/FullSizeRender-11-1024x744.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/FullSizeRender-11-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/FullSizeRender-11-768x558.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/FullSizeRender-11.jpg 1143w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 613px) 100vw, 613px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The host Petawawa Indians defeated the Black Sweaty Dukes of Misfits 4-1 in the finals the next afternoon; through no fault of your SweatSox.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Dukes lose final 4-1 to the host Petawawa Indians.<\/p>\n<p>Great weekend, thanks to the tourney organizers for job well done!<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Petawawaball?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Petawawaball<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Joe Beelen (@jbeelen32) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jbeelen32\/status\/767540838150930432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 22, 2016<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Not surprisingly, the two SweatSox cleaned up at the black tie #PetaTourney16 Banquet, winning just about all the tournament awards:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Tournament Most Valuable Player<\/strong>: Cory Bond<br \/>\n<strong>Batter of the Tournament<\/strong>: Chris Lidstone<br \/>\n<strong>Pitcher of the Tournament<\/strong>: Cory Bond<br \/>\n<strong>Sportsman of the Tournament<\/strong>: Chris Lidstone<br \/>\n<strong>Defensive Player of the Tournament<\/strong>: Cory Bond<br \/>\n<strong>Rookie of the Tournament<\/strong>: Chris Lidstone<br \/>\n<strong>Manager of the Tournament<\/strong>: Cory Bond (who wasn\u2019t even the manager)<\/p>\n<p>One award the SweatSox surprisingly didn&#8217;t win was the tournament&#8217;s <strong>Mr. Hyjinx<\/strong> Trophy.
