Part of it was because of my increasing work obligations over at 3929 Carp Road (please don’t go Googling my office), but the main reason was because our site was constantly under attack from an unknown adversary.

This hacker tried for years to break down our firewalls, demanding my full attention. Late last year, when I took a quick break to hand wash my big black truck that takes up my entire driveway, they finally succeeded. It was a threefold attack not only on us, but the entire National Capital Baseball League:

The email account of NCBL Commissioner Bill Beelen was compromised.

Our site was forcefully penetrated, without our consent.

The NCBL Mainframe was infiltrated, and the permanent record of the Panthers was erased.

We suspect NCBL Treasurer Craig Cornell is somehow involved in this attack. The working theory is he hacked the BCBEELENemail so he could request league funds be transferred to an offshore account, and then claim he was only following orders. Next, he hacks the NCBL Mainframe and upgrades the Panthers from a red to green team, so everyone would naturally suspect them. And finally, just for fun, Cornell deletes the SweatSite, scrubbing all references to his sexy eyes and luscious hair.

Thankfully, a heads-up member of the NCBL Executive was able to sniff out this obvious scam, halting Cornell (allegedly) in his tracks. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Fortunately, my team of engineers (including the guy that we met up with at the Sens game) were able to repair some of the damage to the SweatSite, now rebranded The Sweat, and we’re now able to move forward with regular updates. Whether or not we can recover the missing data is still to be determined.

Despite any legal troubles Craig might find himself in very shortly, he promises to be in uniform on opening day, ready to make a run at a 3rd Doug Dorion Memorial Trophy.

So let’s not call this a Relaunch, let’s call it a Reboot. My name is Shaun Keay, I have the 2nd most strikeouts in NCBL history, and I’m back. Probably.

#REBOOT2019

As you know, over the past few seasons I’ve taken a big step back from my recreational men’s league baseball web hosting duties.
