{"id":2214,"date":"2019-09-17T12:25:58","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T16:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/?p=2214"},"modified":"2019-09-17T12:40:10","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T16:40:10","slug":"tie-game-spoils-great-pitching-matchup-battalion-vs-athletics-g2-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/2019\/09\/17\/tie-game-spoils-great-pitching-matchup-battalion-vs-athletics-g2-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Tie Game Spoils Great Pitching Matchup | Battalion vs Athletics G2 RECAP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SPORTSPLEX<\/strong>&#8211; The Battalion and Athletics settled for a controversial tie last night in game 2 of the 2019 Tier 1 Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 3-3 game was called by the umpires at 10:16pm, per ByLaw 2.3 that no new inning could start after 2 hours and 15 minutes from the first pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ignoring the unwritten rule that if both teams agree the game could\u2019ve continued (and they did), the first pitch wasn\u2019t thrown until 8:03pm, due to the Athletics taking a very late infield. The double scored Felix Septimo, who after 22 seasons is playing in his first ever Tier 1 finals, and Graeme Nichols, who reached first on a perfectly placed bunt single, and then got to second via SB. 2-0 A\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Athletics added to the lead in the 5th, when Phil Brunet hit a first pitch single to right scoring Ryan Burnside, aka the Carleton University Ravens limousine riding, jet flying, grand slamming, bat flippin&#8217; son of a gun. 3-0 A\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The beast of the (\u26be\ufe0fUA) East was at it again!  @ryanburnside23 of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CURavenBaseball?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CURavenBaseball<\/a> the hits a grand-slam v. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GeeGeesBaseball?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GeeGeesBaseball<\/a> on Wednesday.
