There was a lot of information packed in the 50-word, 269-character <em>(nice)<\/em> Tweet, which I, Shaun Keay, am about to break down for you in even further detail&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Update:<br> <br>&#8211; feb 28 deadline: 5 teams opted OUT of 2021 season<br>&#8211; March 2: Ottawa public health published new guidelines to follow<br>&#8211; March 15: opted IN teams presented with new format\/scheduling plan for 2021<br>&#8211; March 19 deadline: for teams to opt IN\/OUT of NEW 2021 plan.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ncbl?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ncbl<\/a><\/p>&mdash; NCBL (@ncbl) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ncbl\/status\/1371937506606866438?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 16, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8211; feb 28 deadline: 5 teams opted OUT of 2021 season<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The update starts with an announcement that 5 teams officially opted-out of the 2021 NCBL season.\u00a0 At the <a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/2021\/02\/24\/a-firsthand-account-of-the-2021-ncbl-winter-meeting\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"2548\">NCBL Winter Meeting<\/a>, teams were given until February 28<sup>th<\/sup> to decide whether or not they were in or out, and 5 teams ultimately opted-in of opting-out. It was not referenced who those 5 teams were, but I was able to reverse engineer <em>(because I\u2019m an engineering graduate)<\/em> the probable tier breakdown and figure out who those teams were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Kanata Athletics<\/li><li>The Kingston Ponies<\/li><li>The Delorey Pirates<\/li><li>The LOWERCASE capitals<\/li><li>The Suspended Knights<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8211; March 2: Ottawa public health published new guidelines to follow<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On or around March 2nd, in response to the NCBL\u2019s original plan <em>(well, technically it was Craig\u2019s plan)<\/em> to blow a bubble, play the bubble, pop the bubble, quarantine away from the bubble, and then make a new bubble, Ottawa Public Health penned an &#8216;Open Letter to the Community&#8217; renouncing their support for any plan that resets leagues or bubbles, even after an extended quarantine period between games.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/OPH-Open-Letter_Team-Sport-Structure-and-Operational-Guidance.pdf\" class=\"pdfemb-viewer\" style=\"\" data-width=\"max\" data-height=\"max\" data-toolbar=\"bottom\" data-toolbar-fixed=\"on\">OPH-Open-Letter_Team-Sport-Structure-and-Operational-Guidance<\/a><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NCBL promptly threw the Craig Plan away, as well as the plan to temporarily rename the Tiers the <strong>U<\/strong>rbina, <strong>I<\/strong>chiro, <strong>I<\/strong>vany, and <strong>U<\/strong>ecker divisions, and began working tirelessly to come up with a schedule that satisfies all parties concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BIG SHOUTOUT to everyone at OPH <em>(-DO, SB, and of course Bruce)<\/em> for making sure the NCBL is as safe as it can be!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8211; March 15: opted IN teams presented with new format\/scheduling plan for 2021<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This past Monday, the NCBL released a revised plan <em>(aka the Joe Plan)<\/em> that once again splits the Tiers into bubbles, but this time with the understanding that these bubbles may remain intact all summer long. The plan does have a few opportunities to expand if, and only if, the government regulations eventually allow it <em>(and obviously with OPH\u2019s blessing)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/NCBL-2021-PDF-v2.pdf\" class=\"pdfemb-viewer\" style=\"\" data-width=\"max\" data-height=\"max\" data-toolbar=\"bottom\" data-toolbar-fixed=\"on\">NCBL-2021-PDF-v2<\/a><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-pdfemb-pdf-embedder-viewer\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">The Joe Plan &gt; The Craig Plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">&#8211; March 19 deadline: for teams to opt IN\/OUT of NEW 2021 plan.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a new scheduling plan came a new deadline for teams to opt-out of the 2021 season, and that deadline is 2 days from now. If things stay the way they are, and they are expected to, the SweatSox will be placed in a 4-team bubble with the Misfits, Winchester Heat, and Los Cubanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It should be a fun bubble, although my idea for a 2-team bubble where we only play the Rockets 24+ times would\u2019ve been fun too. A few SweatBubble notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Roster sizes in our bubble will be capped at 12.5 players per team <em>(good thing Eric helped us out here and cut himself down to a .5 this offseason)<\/em><\/li><li>Peter <s>&#8220;Pickles&#8221;<\/s> &#8220;The Darkness&#8221; Gauthier has agreed to opt-out of all Misfits games vs the SweatSox.<\/li><li>After an undefeated season in 2020, Team Cuba is the odds-on favourite to win the bubble.<\/li><li>The SweatSox won\u2019t have to worry about travelling out of the city a bunch of times this year because per Winchester Public Health, all Winchester Heat home games must be played in Ottawa, preferably Kanata.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BIG SHOUTOUT to everyone at WPH <em>(-NP, MW, and of course Edgar)<\/em> for making sure the NCBL is as safe as it can be!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">#ncbl<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, a Tweet doesn\u2019t become official until you close it by hashtagging your own handle.
