THE TRILL<\/strong>– On June 26th, Craig Cornell officially became the 20th player in NCBL history to walk 200 times, drawing a key walk off Rockets ace Nick Lenardon in the 6th inning of what was at that moment still a 0-0 game.<\/p>\n\n\n

This should\u2019ve been a celebration for the ages, the crowning achievement of Cornell\u2019s illustrious baseball career, but later that inning, this outstanding accomplishment was quickly overshadowed by something even more legendary\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We could just yadda yadda through the first 5 innings (aka the first 20 minutes of the game), but basically: the efficiency of Josh Ramage (SweatSox) was perfectly countering the quickness of Nick Lenardon (Rockets). They had given up a combined 3 hits heading into the 6th, with no signs of letting up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then it happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the bottom of the 6th with 1-out, Rockets pinch hitter Andrew Belmore hit a hard ground ball up the middle into center field.\u00a0 SweatSox CF Kent Johnston<\/s> Eric White was really feeling it, and decided to try and throw him out at 1st, for what had to be the 1st 8-3 putout in baseball history\u2026 AND IT WORKED!!!!\u00a0 Incredible play.\u00a0 Heroic effort.\u00a0 Legendary moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nah just kidding, an 8-3 is not physically possible.\u00a0 I mean I have seen Ramage hit into a 9-3, and even a 7-3, but an 8-3 simply can\u2019t be done.\u00a0 In fact, witnesses say White’s thrown ball from center would\u2019ve hit the wave pool if not for the fence above the dugout.\u00a0 Ramage absolutely lost it on the mound, leading to a Francois the Tankois single, and then a bases clearing double from SweatSox Killer John Carbonette.\u00a0 2 runs was more than enough for Lenardon to call it a day and turn it over to the Tank for the save.\u00a0 Rockets win 2-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonight, Ramage turned back the clock and was throwing the Duke as well as he was during the 2019 Finals when the \u201cother team\u201d had no idea what to do with it.

Unfortunately, we\u2019re still winless all-time in games where we score less than 1 run.
