Last Friday night, the SweatSox ended a streak of 7 straight regular season losses versus the Rockets, with a 16-7 win over the boys from RainSoft.\u00a0 The SweatSox were up 2-0 in the 1st, down 5-2 in the 2nd, but then exploded with 10 runs over the next 2 innings, setting the tone for a much needed slump-busting victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">SWEATSOX GAMEDAY!<br><br>SweatSox (0-2) vs Rockets (0-0)<br><br>8:30pm, Trillium<br><br>REGULAR SEASON FUN FACT: The SweatSox are 6-15-1 against the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NCBLRockets?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NCBLRockets<\/a> since 2001, which includes an active 7-game losing streak ?<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/sweatsox?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#sweatsox<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XO4wPD8Iq5\">pic.twitter.com\/XO4wPD8Iq5<\/a><\/p>&mdash; SweatSox (@SweatSox) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SweatSox\/status\/1794026623978631245?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 24, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the dub, the SweatSox improved our regular season record against the Rockets to 7-15-1 <em>(since 2001, we aren\u2019t quite sure what happened in 2000)<\/em>, and 4-11-1 since we returned to Tier 3 in 2018 and renewed this one-sided rivalry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SweatSox were led by starting pitcher Josh Ramage, who couldn\u2019t find his jersey before the game so he had to break out the old black &amp; white.\u00a0 Ramage went the distance, giving up just 9 hits, 3 walks, and 1 earned run, while setting the SweatSox all-time innings pitched record, formerly held by our GLE Cory Bond.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/IMG_2487.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"457\" height=\"656\" src=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/IMG_2487.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3928\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/IMG_2487.jpg 457w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/IMG_2487-209x300.jpg 209w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/IMG_2487-300x431.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 457px) 100vw, 457px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were several individual standouts for the SweatSox last night:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Kent Johnston was 3\/4 with a walk, and added another spectacular diving catch in center field to his highlight reel.\u00a0 Our former Director also scored a team high 4 runs, the perfect final practice before his big Ottawa marathon run yesterday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mike \u201cMike\u201d Pignat was also 3\/4, but with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, and a HBP.\u00a0 But is he okay?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mattingly Romanin was 2\/3 with a walk, double, sac fly, and 4 RBI in his SweatSox debut, but more importantly learned a valuable lesson about keeping the bat on your shoulder with 2 strikes in men\u2019s league baseball: don\u2019t.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the winner of the 2004 A&amp;W Kamloops International Baseball Game MVP award was Nick Henderson.\u00a0 BDN was 1 of 3 SweatSox with 3 hits, but was the only one to hit a HR, his first since Little League, and off future NCBL Hall of Famer Nick Lenardon no less.\u00a0 Henderson was also a sponge at 2nd base, recording a team high 7 assists, with 2 putouts and 0 errors.\u00a0 Not bad for a guy who started this game on the bench.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most importantly, none of our success Friday night would\u2019ve been possible without the efforts of our 6x Most Valuable Player Eric White, who was ejected from the game after the first play of the game, forcing the rest of us to step up to a whole new level to make up for this most untimely of losses.  By the way, these new levels with have steps, and it&#8217;ll all be carpeted with lots of pillows.
