Wait\u2026 what??? That\u2019s like going to the Morgan to host the Heat, or to the Sportsplex to host the Brewers\u2026<br><br>Conspiracy!<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/sweatsox?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#sweatsox<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rx3v4U73iO\">pic.twitter.com\/rx3v4U73iO<\/a><\/p>&mdash; SweatSox (@SweatSox) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SweatSox\/status\/1797635580051997126?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 3, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, we only got to play a 6-inning game, thanks in part to the early Irish-Crusaders game starting their 7th inning at 8:14pm with a 9-run differential on the scoreboard.&nbsp; That, combined with our home plate umpire unable to find his way back to the field for a significant period of time because he couldn\u2019t find his glasses, meant first pitch wasn\u2019t until just after 9:45pm (Atlantic Standard Time).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SweatSox opened the scoring in the first inning after Mattingly Romanin hit his first NCBL HR, your standard Trillium no-doubter that may have derailed the LRT project for another couple of months.&nbsp; Eager to find this ball to add to his collection, Mattingly is off to Calgary, where the ball was most recently spotted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We quickly fell behind 6-2, but eventually tied the game in the 4th after a wild pitch, an RBI-single from yours truly (I, Shaun Keay), and finally a clutch bases loaded 2-run double courtesy of Phil Leduc.\u00a0 With a newfound sense of hope &amp; momentum, the SweatSox proceeded to immediately give up 3 runs, the difference in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ncbl?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ncbl<\/a> Rockets 9 Sweat Sox 6<br><br>Murph was the absolute rocket of the game! years, save for Kent Johnston who made up a phantom injury about hurting his leg when a ball hit him in the head while stealing 2nd up-9 the other day.\u00a0 We know what he was really doing was that it was one when controversial calls were made by unanimous consensus between the two umpires and the two managers.\u00a0 SweatSox Authority Cory Bond was able to get a safe call on a stolen base overturned after a lengthy discussion with the officials, then later on Rocket Kingpin Th<em>\u00f6<\/em>mas \u201cT-B<em>\u00f6<\/em>ne\u201d T<em>\u00f6<\/em>ll got a single to the light pole overturned to a ground rule double.\u00a0 This never would\u2019ve happened in Kanata, or the Sportsplex, or Southgate, or Brewer, or Heritage, or Faulkner, or McCarthy, and especially not at the Morgan.\u00a0 We believe both calls were correct in the end, but boy did it take a while to get there.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a so far this year.\u00a0 The Hero of Hydration picked up the no decision, pitching 4 innings of 6-hit 4-walk ball, while striking out 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most impressively though, Ramage nearly got the reigning Tier 3 Batter of the Year Randy Upshall to quit baseball right then and there (or at least swap out of Tier 3 until the SweatSox drop down to 4).<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_2571.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" party after the game, and without peanuts to occupy our mouths, we were forced to listen to Mark Bond talk.\u00a0 One of his ramblings was him admitting he had no idea who Don Mattingly, a distant relative of our very own Mattingly Romanin, was.\u00a0 We had to teach Cop all about The Hit Man, and how he:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Played his entire 14-year career for the Yankees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was the Yankee captain right before Jeter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was a 6x All-Star<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was a 9x Gold Glove winner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was the first left-handed throwing 3rd baseman to play in the Majors since the early 1900\u2019s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once homered in 8 straight games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the single season grand slam leader (6)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the current Blue Jays bench coach and offensive coordinator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But most importantly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He once made contact on a 2-1 pitch at the same time the Jerry pilot was airing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He was convinced by the Yankee Assistant to the Travelling Secretary to continue using his new batting stance until it stopped working<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He famously split his pants the day after the Yankees washed their new cotton uniforms.
