Trillium Park<\/strong> \u2013 On a warm Sunday afternoon, the SweatSox saw their late-game hopes dashed by a dramatic finish, falling 4-3 to the Rockets in a tightly contested matchup. Ty Murphy\u2019s walk-off single to right field in the bottom of the seventh sealed the win for the Rockets, sending the SweatSox to an 8-6 record on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a tough one to swallow,\u201d said SweatSox manager Cory Bond. \u201cWe played well enough to be in it until the end, but sometimes the baseball gods have other plans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game opened with a pitching duel between veteran Rockets ace Mike \u201cBay Bay\u201d Bayley and SweatSox starter Mark \u201cBus Cop\u201d Bond. Bayley, the NCBL\u2019s all-time leader in wins, demonstrated why he holds that title, tossing 6 2\/3 innings and allowing just one earned run on seven hits while striking out three. Bond matched Bayley\u2019s intensity, going 4 1\/3 innings, allowing only one hit and one run, while racking up six strikeouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SweatSox offense was led by Nick Henderson, who collected two hits, drove in a run, and scored another. Henderson\u2019s efforts kept the SweatSox in contention, though the team struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was great to contribute,\u201d said Henderson. \u201cBut baseball\u2019s a team game, and we\u2019ve got to find ways to get those big hits in key moments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defensively, Eric White shone at shortstop, recording three assists and two putouts in a strong showing. Jaspreet Sanghra added to the drama when he was hit by a Bayley \u201cfastball\u201d, earning the title of “Sweatiest Player of the Game” for his grit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game\u2019s turning point came in the bottom of the seventh. After Rockets reliever Ty Murphy retired the final batter in the top half, the Rockets mounted a rally against SweatSox reliever Josh Ramage. Ramage, who had struggled throughout his two innings of relief, gave up six hits and three runs, capped by Murphy\u2019s game-winning hit with the bases loaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all about staying in the moment,\u201d said Rockets manager Tom Toll. \u201cTy\u2019s been clutch for us all season, and we knew he\u2019d deliver when it mattered most.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the SweatSox, the loss was a learning experience. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to shake it off and move forward,\u201d said Cory Bond. \u201cThis group has resilience, and we\u2019ll show that Friday against the Lumberjacks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SweatSox will have a quick turnaround as they face the Lumberjacks at Trillium on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
