The Rockets win the season series 3-1, while the SweatSox drop to 9-7 overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rockets came out firing, jumping to a 5-0 lead by the middle of the fourth inning. SweatSox starter Mark Bond struggled with control, issuing six walks and hitting one batter in his four innings of work. Despite flashes of brilliance, including two strikeouts, the damage proved costly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI just didn\u2019t have my best stuff tonight,\u201d Bus Cop admitted. \u201cI\u2019ve got to give credit to the Rockets\u2014they made me pay for every mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rockets ace Mike Bayley delivered a dominant six-inning performance, keeping the SweatSox bats in check despite surrendering 8 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk, and plunking the Brothers Bond just because he could. His unorthodox outing included no strikeouts, but precise pitch placement frustrated the SweatSox lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMike was the key for us tonight,\u201d said Rockets skipper Thomas Toll. \u201cHe pitched to contact and trusted his defense to get the job done.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SweatSox offense, however, refused to go quietly. Jaspreet Sanghra sparked the rally, finishing a flawless 3-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored. Eric White contributed defensively with six assists, keeping the game within reach. By the bottom of the seventh, the SweatSox had clawed back to within one run and had runners on first and second with nobody out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s when the game\u2019s pivotal moment unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manager Cory Bond, after consulting with Assistant <em>to the<\/em> Manager Josh Ramage, opted to eschew small-ball tactics in favor of a power-hitting approach. With Mark Bond at the plate, Ramage on-deck, and one of our greatest clutch hitters of all-time CBond in the hole, the SweatSox gambled on swinging for the fences rather than bunting the tying run to third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result? A pop-up to the pitcher followed by a crushing 6-4-3 double play that extinguished the rally and handed the Rockets the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe believed in our hitters to come through in the clutch,\u201d said Cory the Authority. \u201cSometimes those decisions work, and sometimes they don\u2019t.
