{"id":940,"date":"2015-03-21T19:47:13","date_gmt":"2015-03-21T23:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/?p=940"},"modified":"2015-03-21T19:49:14","modified_gmt":"2015-03-21T23:49:14","slug":"ncbl-spring-meeting-predictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/21\/ncbl-spring-meeting-predictions\/","title":{"rendered":"NCBL Spring Meeting Predictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SAM_2920.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-945\" src=\"http:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SAM_2920.jpg\" alt=\"SAMSUNG CSC\" width=\"636\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SAM_2920.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sweatsoxbaseball.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SAM_2920-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve never been to an NCBL meeting before.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t there in 2003 when Cory Bond\u2019s West End Warriors expansion team was rejected by the league, I wasn\u2019t there when Craig Cornell was hired as Treasurer, I wasn\u2019t there when the umpires were fired, and I wasn\u2019t there when the league voted the Raiders and Red Sox out of their tiers against their will.\u00a0 There is an NCBL meeting tomorrow morning, where the immediate future of the SweatSox will be decided, and guess what, I won\u2019t be there either.<\/p>\n<p>In theory I could just show up, but that would go against the dying wish of our founder Doug Dorion, who on his deathbed made me swear to never get caught up in the politics of management by showing up to a meeting. He also made me promise to eventually become the greatest Webmaster in the NCBL. He also made me get him a cigarette, king sized of course.\u00a0 RIP.<\/p>\n<p>Even though I won\u2019t be there, I can tell you exactly how things will play out.\u00a0 After all, who has a better pulse on the NCBL than I, Shaun Keay.\u00a0 Here are my predictions, guaranteed or your money back:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Tier Structure<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Cardinals will make a pitch to stay in Tier 1, and win it.<\/li>\n<li>The Cornwall River Rats will not fight their automatic move from Tier 2 to Tier 1.<\/li>\n<li>The SweatSox will lose their pitch to stay in Tier 2, and get voted down to Tier 3.<\/li>\n<li>The River Hawks will lose their pitch to move from Tier 2 to Tier 1.<\/li>\n<li>The Orioles will not fight their automatic move from Tier 3 to Tier 2.<\/li>\n<li>The Knights will make a pitch to stay in Tier 3, and win\u00a0it.<\/li>\n<li>The Bytown Bombers will make a pitch to stay in Tier 4, and win it.<\/li>\n<li>The Capitals will make a pitch to move from Tier 4 to Tier 3, and win it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Playoff Structure<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the spirit of this being a recreational league, all teams in all tiers will now make playoffs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Budget<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Someone will notice the SweatSox don\u2019t ever pay league fees in Craig\u2019s new budget.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Umpires<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jean Lazure will announce they are retiring Phil Beauregard\u2019s umpire number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>By-Law<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A new rule will be in place eliminating protests.
