“Why Separate Knob?”

Posted on October 21, 2013October 29, 2013

Part II of the 2013 Weekend Extravaganza took place yesterday morning at the Irish Hills Golf & Country Club, where thirteen twelve eleven of our most noble warriors joined forces to challenge the sport that only like 3 of us are good at: golf.

Denver Hunt couldn’t make it because he can’t walk, Mark Stinson couldn’t make it because he was gone fishing, and Josh Ramage couldn’t make it because he can’t swing things.

Everyone else was scheduled to attend, but Chris Lidstone was the first to call in sick.  He cited a wild role-playing night with Minderson as his excuse for oversleeping.  Eric White was the second to call in, while most of us were on the 4th hole.  His excuse was setting his alarm to PM instead of AM.  A pretty weak excuse for our MVP.

Two SweatSox who recently signed 10 year contracts were almost late, but thanks to the fake tee time Cory Bond told us all to make sure we were there on time, they weren’t.  Marc Lett (GPS), and Craig Cornell (Google Maps), or maybe it was the other way around, were each told by their guide that the opposite end of the course was their destination.  Or perhaps both were just unsatisfied with their new pieces of property, and were looking for something a little closer to where all our games will be next year: Kinsmen.

Incredibly, not only was Ross Hughes not mentioned as being absent or late, he was there, on time, for both events of the Weekend Extravaganza!  He must really be worried he’s in danger of being cut this offseason.

With the actual tee-time approaching, it was time to pick teams.

Finishing in 3rd place, with a score of +6, was the team of Cory Bond, I (Shaun Keay), and Mark Bond; aka Team Bogey:

Finishing in 2nd place, with a score of +4, was the team of Ross Hughes, Kent Johnston, Armando Navarro, and Andrew Elias; aka Team Green:

Which means your 2013 SweatSox Golf Champions, finishing with a score of +3, was the team of Marc Lett, John Groves, Craig Cornell, and Mark Dorrington; aka Team OM:

We couldn’t leave the course without taking a group picture, but with nobody around to take it, we had to be creative.  Bus Cop decided to take a panoramic picture, and swap places with Brownshow before the camera got to the other end of the line. It sort of worked:

Next up for the SweatSox will most likely be the NCBL Banquet on Friday, November 8th, where we’ll officially receive our Championship trophy, our banner, and maybe even some individual hardware.
