Earlier tonight in Tier 1 action, the Capital City Cubs and Kanata Athletics squared off at Kinsmen, which if you didn’t already know is right down the road from my humble abode. In attendance was none other than the NCBL’s impartial Score Keeper (iSK for short): Cory Bond. I probably could’ve been there had I been sent an invite, but I didn’t, so I wasn’t.
The iSK sent me copies of the stat sheet, which seems to have a bit of everything: balks, walks, strikeouts, wild pitches, a SweatSox’ian amount of errors, and of course a couple ejections. The only thing missing was a protest.
Now, clearly I wasn’t there so I have no idea how two Athletics got ejected, but I’m going to guess that a call or two didn’t go their way, and they voiced their displeasure to the officiating crew. I believe this was the first time in Angus MacDonald’s baseball career he’s been ejected from a game, so he can finally check that off the bucket list.
I’d also like to know why Cubs third base coach Chris Armstrong gave the bunt sign to his best hitter. It must be a Tier 1 thing, because we’d never give any kind of sign to anyone.

Next up for the SweatSox is the Heritage Classic Tournament beginning tomorrow (weather permitting). Sources say Craig Cornell already has his pants on in preparation for his first start since July 27, 2003 (a complete game 11-11 tie vs Crickets).
