Last Thursday, the SweatSox and Marc Sports faced off in a rare National Capital Baseball League game under the Stadium lights. Not as rare was the SweatSox committing costly errors late in a close game, which is exactly what sealed our fate against our neighbors from across the river.
We still don’t know who is hording the 2004 A&W Kamloops International Baseball Game MVP Award, but we probably would’ve given it to Ross Hughes for having more hits than errors committed; which in our books is a good day at the office
Marc Sports 8. SweatSox 4. Final.

Broment: Armando Navarro and “Bob” reunited after many years apart.
Final SweatSox vs Marc Sports Notes/Thoughts:
- Armando Navarro is allergic to bees
- Marc Lett’s Sharknado feed was a few seconds ahead of the rest of the team
- Cory Bond owes first base a beer (or a lime Red Bull)
- We may have found someone in the NCBL with better hair than Craig Cornell #johnnymac
- I, Shaun Keay, set a SweatSox single-game first-base record with 2 assists to a base that wasn’t 1B
- The SweatSox are 0-2 when Ross Hughes gets 2 hits in a game
- The SweatSox are 1-4 all-time against Marc Sports
- Gabriel Gervais improves to 4-0 all-time against the SweatSox
- The Après Baseball Hyjinx was hosted by Eric White, literally.
- Mindy is pretty, kinda, almost sure she knows her age
- Mark Stinson needs glasses with flames
- Mindy likes onion rings without the onions, but doesn’t want one from Chris
- Cory Bond and I, Shaun Keay, have the biggest feet on the team
- Can you smoke Special K?
- Apparently, the Cornwall doubleheader is now on a Saturday
- PtUMP and the girl that wasn’t his girlfriend at the bar still owe me money
- The MinderStones must go through a lot of Tylenol
- Mindy only does 2 types of jobs, at work
- Chris Lidstone is #18, but Mindy is only #16 – bad math, or something on the side?
- Josh Ramage likes big units
MARSHMALLOW GOLF BALLS
On Saturday, the SweatSox finally got around to playing the 2014 SweatSox Golf Invitational. The foursome of Cory Bond, Mark Bond, John Groves, and Kent Johnston battled it out for 18 holes for the “coveted” golf trophy. I, Shaun Keay, was unable to make it. Like Kent Johnston, I was having serious Rogers issues and had to wait for the service technician get me back online.
Service is restoring. We thank you for your patience and expect all service to be back to normal shortly.

There were some conflicting reports about who exactly walked away as 2014 SweatSox Golf champion. According to the only scorecard, that he himself was in charge of, Kent Johnston won by a stroke.
There was some golf course chatter that Kent Johnston was actually disqualified for teeing off on the 14th hole from outside the tee box, which would give the win to John Groves!
If one was to eliminate illegal mulligans, foot wedges, penalty strokes, changing balls mid-hole, and outright lies, then Cory Bond, who did none of that, is your true SweatSox tournament champion!
Mark Bond claims that this tournament was played using the Stableford scoring system, which would make him the tournament champion by a record 20 points!
It’s too close to call, so congratulations to all 4 winners of the 2014 SweatSox golf tournament! You all can share the trophy, and will be awarded equal points in the SweatLympic standings.
Final SweatSox Golf Notes/Thoughts:
- Kent Johnston is so good he can chip the ball twice in the same shot
- John Groves couldn’t hook or slice a tee shot if he tried, straight and far is all he knows
- Cory Bond can hit a baseball further than he can hit a golf ball
- Nobody 3-putts a 3 footer like Mark Bond
- I can’t believe I missed the 2015 SweatSox Political Debate: John Groves vs Kent Johnston
- The SweatSox may have crashed their first wedding
- So disgusted with his round, Mark Bond passed on the Après Golf Hyjinx and went to the driving range to hit a couple dozen buckets of balls
- Cedarhill Golf and Country Club has pretty good wings, and a strong Coke or Pepsi, whatever it is
- #14 paying his respects to hole #14
As we enter the final few weeks of the regular season, the tier leading Winchester Sox seem to be a lock for the Tier 2 pennant. Teams throughout the league are already starting to wonder whether or not they will fight the automatic move up to Tier 1…
