I’m back, and I’m better than ever. Got a knack for making things better. Face facts, cause your opinion don’t matter. This maniac is gonna step on whomever. It’s time, get in line, cause I’m gonna make some changes, kicking ass, taking names, cleaning house, oh baby. I’m bringing out the deadwood. Burning down time. Cause there’s only my way, so get your ass in line. ACKNOWLEDGE ME!
And now, in my own words, a breakdown of last night’s SweatSox vs Lumberjacks match-up:
FRIGGIN TRILLIUM AGAIN?!?– For the fourth and final time this regular season, the SweatSox faced off against the pennant clinched, championship favourite Ottawa Lumberjacks last night at Trillium.
The SweatSox have been unable to compete with the Lumberjacks so far this year, losing all 3 previous matchups, while getting outscored 21-10 in the process. We couldn’t beat them with Eric White, Josh Ramage, or Dave Rotari on the bump, so we decided to give them a much different look: Saint Lawrence of Pawelek.
Like we’ve done so many times this year, we jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first after an Eric White single and stolen base led to a RBI single for Josh Ramage.
Unfortunately, Pawelek was unable to hold onto that 1-run lead, and we proceeded to give up 16 runs in a mercy shortened 4.5 inning game. Larry did somehow record a strikeout in this one, shame on you Matthew Nanni, who’s 2nd inning backwards K will be talked about for years.
Big thanks to LP for taking one for the team and going the distance. Our “regular” starters really needed a day off.
Lumberjacks 16. SweatSox 1. Final.
The story of the night wasn’t necessarily the SweatSox getting swept by the Jacks, nor the SweatSox losing our 4th straight game with the playoffs starting sometime next week, it was the return of umpire Jean Lazure to the field. Lazure had some work done on his ticker earlier in the summer, and finally got cleared to work non-competitive, stress-free NCBL games, so naturally he got a SweatSox assignment.
Welcome back Blue. We were happy to help ease you back into things.
Close enough…
Final SweatSox vs Lumberjacks Notes/Thoughts:
- Cory Bond’s personal menu is not limited, it’s exclusive
- Nothing is less than minimum
- The SweatSox have been playing well since the pep talk
- Rizzoli is a bitch
- There were 2 Jean’s and 2 Cory’s at the pregame home plate conference
- Not even Larry Pawelek could stomach the brown substance in the Stein
- It’s nice that Cory Bond’s curve is back, but we’d prefer it if he was curving a baseball and not a beer can
- Where Louis Gadbois goes, runs do not follow
- Some dude named Blue Jay Greg is a big fan of my work
